Thums Down - The Departed

I have to reluctantly offer a downward tick to the ol' thum.

Leonardo was, imho, excellent. Damon was entirely Damonable. I didn't even mind Nicholson, who -- when allowed enough room -- can now destroy almost any movie [just ask Tim Burton]; he was not as "over the top" as I'd been led to believe. . .

But I found the film disjointed, and I believe unintentionally so. It didn't play games with time, but it didn't establish time either. And I didn't care about -- anything.

But it's "well-made," and intelligent, and John Lennon is quoted -- AND "Well" is in the soundtrack!

From the Wenner interviews [ Lennon Remembers]:

"I'm an artist -- hand me a tuba, and I'll make music with it."

It's paraphrased in the film, and again by me . . .
